Description

Rare Earth Elements Separation

Capabilities delivered by this project will enable industry to gain advancement and efficiency in

Rare Earth Elements (REE) separation processing methods.

Types of necessary re-imagination in REE separation processes include innovative augmentation in separation factors, reduction of equipment requirements, and/or reductions in chemical consumption. The Government seeks to improve the economics of the process, reduce waste, and reduce complexity by limiting the steps it takes to achieve separation.

Process enhancements will lead to promoting a sustainable and economically viable domestic supply of REE in the US. The scope of this prototype effort will focus on developing advancements in separation process capabilities.

The objectives of the REE Separation Technology Capabilities Prototype Project are to

understand:

1. New innovative separation processes that increase the ability to create domestic REE processing plants.
